Description

Another shot from Montezuma Well. Montezuma Well is a spring-fed, perpetually water-filled sinkhole. About a thousand years ago the Sinaguan people took advantage of this reliable source of water and built their homes in the side of the cliff between rim (a few feet above what you see here) and pool (about 50 feet below). They dug irrigation canals which carry water to this day. Unfortunately the water contains arsenic ... one of life's little tricks. ........... We're still at our friend's place in Arizona, and will be here for another few days. Right now my internet connection is holding steady, and I can actually load entire gallery pages WITH the thumbnail pics! Amazing! I've been looking at your work that way, which is better than nothing. Still having fun, still lamenting the poor connection. I'm making a choice this morning to browse the thumbs rather than open a few images and make comments. Quantity over quality! LOL!

I hear that Nature has judged arsenic to be a wonderful flavor ingredient. I love this shot and the ancientness of it! Gorgeous POV and the flowers in the foreground actually make this far more haunting. I love it when I'm able to get back to Renderosity and see stuff like this! This is amazing!

Artesian wells often have high levels of arsenic. The good news is that these garden view condominiums are now selling at the bargain price of only $150,000 each. Excellent capture.

The old wells and irrigation system I saw was actually near Sedona, but every bit as amazing as this one. I love the flowers still growing, arsenic and all!!

An awesome shot, Tara! These cliff dwellings are just so incredible. I'd want to pass on the arsenic-water, though....

Great shot shame about the water, the flowers don't seem to mind.
