Description

A Diplomat and his staff have the unenviable (in diplomatic circles, many others would gladly sell several limbs for the chance) task of meeting a trio of Nemaean Medium Cruisers in order to discuss a few relatively minor border issues. While the captains of the approaching ships are saying little, the diplomat chances to look at the progress of their cautious approach, and finds a sudden urge to void a few liters of precious fluid: These are MEDIUM cruisers? Diplomatic ships are, by necessity a bit larger than typical of core-world ships, but even these are dwarfed by the Nemaean ships. The first ship is is still a good distance away from rendezvous, yet it's so small as to almost disappear. For but a moment even the most experienced crew hesitate, but these diplomats were chosen carefully, and they will complete their task, saving the panic they feel for later in the privacy of their own rooms. Where (hopefully) no one will know. ---------------- Special thanks to Chipka (http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?userid=415012) for letting me play in his wonderful Nemaean space playground, once again. Also a special thanks to everyone here at Renderosity. To my surprise I made the Art Charts, something that is an unlooked-for surprise that leaves me feeling a bit overwhelmed myself. These ships were modeled in Bryce 6, mostly featuring my own textures, but a few are altered presets or presets. There was additional "aging" done in Photoshop, as well as compositing and such. The stars in the background are created in Photoshop, the planets were spheres in Bryce, but textured in Photoshop afterwards. Thanks for taking a look, special thanks to everyone who favorited me! And as always comments/critiques/suggestions are definitely encouraged.

Yeah, those rascally Nemaeans like to build stuff BIG... As usual, your ships look magnificent, and your skills with texturing are quite literally out-of-this-world. Congrats on the Art Charts! You more than deserve it, my friend!

This is amazing and you've got my brain spinning off in all sorts of directions, especially since the Nemaeans are involved. Hmmm...I wonder if Ilya and Aleo are on one of those whompin' big ships? If so then Dorianna is with them and so diplomatic relations are about to do something...um...colorful. I love this image and the story snippet that really does capture the whole Nemaean vibe. Now I'm curious to see what you'd do with a Nemaean Heavy cruiser...and all I can say about those is Darth Vader would be green with envy. So now, here's the question: if Nemaeans build that big, then how much does it cost to move those things around? But that's something to be explored in a later post. In the meantime, I'll bask in this glorious piece of work and offer my heartfelt congratulations on your well-deserved achievement. And I agree that this does look like a really snazzy book cover! I'd read that book...oh wait, if it's Nemaean, I'll have to write it first. Frak! Oh, and as always, your interstellar/interplanetary background is just as wonderfully appealing and rich as the foreground. And in looking at this, I get the impression that I'm looking at minnows deciding to talk to cryptic whales.
