Description

Here's a tip if you want it. In Bryce, after the intial render, I highlight the foreground objects (island with trees, vines, flowers, beach and girl), then do an object render, which will serve to make a mask in postwork. In Photoshop, I make a duplicate layer of the render and set the layer mode to "Screen". This lightens everything. Back off the opacity to approx. 50%, or whatever you like. Then, using the object render, I select the white parts using the magic wand tool and then erase that part of the Screen layer. This makes the distant scene fade like haze, but more evenly than Bryce haze. This method should work in Paint Shop Pro too.

What a paradisiacal setting . . . at first glance! The smoking volcano is a nice touch :) Thanks for the tip, Poser outputs a z-depth map which would be ideal for this, will definitely try it!

Great render and timely tip. I was just yesterday thinking of ways to get extra populations into my Terregen 2 Free app as it only allows 3 and remembered "Multi Pass Rendering" from my Imagine3D days where it was used to speed up post compositing of frames by having all items rendered on separate layers with the look you want to start from and tweak in PhotoShop. Vue 6 and up already support output to layered .psd files but I really can't afford that so am going to figure it out for TG2.Thanks for the memory jog Dave.. ..
