Description

Today was an absolutely gorgeous spring day! Jo and I broke out the cameras, and drove to Parkville, MO, and the White-Alloe Conservation Area. It's a wonderful nature preserve just north of Kansas City. There are several trails, one of which leads to a waterfall created by drainage from Riss Lake. I clamped my Digital Rebel to a park bench, and closed the f-stop down as far as it would go to get a slow shutter speed. I wanted to give the impression of motion in this delightful little waterfall. I shot a ton of photos while we hiked - many of which I think will make nice backgrounds for renders. I might even stick a few of them in the freebies area. Stay tuned... I'm still working on both Busted 5 and Page 7 of the TNA series. As both of these stories develop, I'm finding that more and more ideas are presenting themselves, and more and more, I'm being challenged to tell them in a creative way without things getting too out of control! LOL! It's a fun challenge, though, and I'm enjoying every second of it! I'm seriously considering getting another Wacom for my newest computer, and adding Blacksmith 3D to my toolbox.... Anyone out there using it - and if so, how do you like it? If I get it, I'll just buy the software outright - I know they have a subscrition for 20 bucks a month, but I'd rather just buy it... Thanks as always for your comments, faves and support! You keep me going!

Ah, back to your roots:) Success concerning the waterfall in motion. This is a technique I need to play with when I can find a waterfall. Best to Jo from Tara and me. We've spent the day in Needles, CA sitting out high winds in the Mojave Desert. Tomorrow looks good for a 200 mile drive to Edwards Air Force Base. We're looking forward to reaching the Pacific and a run up the coast through CA, OR and into WA. I'll bet there is even a waterfall or two along the way:)

Lovely photo, I like the long exposure on the water. Days like that are just perfect for what a friend of mine likes to call "taking the camera for a walk".

Wooooooooooow! This is AWESOME Rod! You definitely got the motion blur of the water alright, and you did it with out washing out the rest of the image too. Looks like a beautiful place. I don't have Black Smith and have seen it only once and cannot even remember what it does. Sorry I can't help there.

Wonderful capture! Whatever settings you used, the result is outstanding. Gorgeous photo! I know absolutely nothing about the Blacksmith software, but I can tell you I'm loving my new Intuos4. I haven't begun to tap into all its options, but so far I'm liking it very much! :)

What a beautiful shot Rod! Waterfalls and woodland streams are my favs! So glad you and Jo had a nice hike in what looks like beautiful weather. LOVE the blurring of the water, while the rest stayed sharp. And yes, you have leaves on the trees already! The trees here really started to come out the past few days as it has been pretty warm, so another week we should see 'real' leaves on them. The magnolia tree in the front is in bloom as well as other spring trees and it's just beautiful. You know, the spot above is so beautiful, I can't help but think that there were some elves hidden in the trees watching you, perhaps a patrol from Rivendell or Mirkwood! grin

I haven't tried it, but it looks like an interesting program. I'm having troubles with poser and running browsers while stuff renders. Seems that any other version of flash other than 9 interfers, so I have to get the later one uninstalled and go to an earlier one. Probably try this with firefox.. though firefox auto updated on me and now somehow has the later one. :P I.E. sucks monkey ballocks! This looks suck a lovely place, thank you for sharing!
