I'm not sure what all to say about myself, I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) and work as a graphic designer/computer technician for a print shop. I have a BS in Historic Preservation, but wasn't willing to go on for a Master's Degree, nor was I interested in teaching, so I found another career. I discovered Bryce way back when version 1 came out, but I didn't really get serious about the program, or 3D art in general, until a few years ago. When I'm not in front of the computer, I'm either making costumes or wearing them to a renaissance festival, or building a new rock-sculpture, or possibly wandering with a camera.
When I'm not making something, odds are I'm reading from my far too wide range of interests: Astronomy, Cosmology, Physics, Archeology, Anthropology, History, Current Events, NASA (of course) and anything else that happens to catch my attention. It's really hard to find enough time to do all of the things I want to be doing! What drew me to Renderosity is the many excellent artists who continue to inspire me to push myself as an artist. More recently I've added a selection of stuff to another online gallery location:http://nefariousdro.deviantart.com/Â

It's because they get the worm! Great captures and wonderful narrative

I'm just amazed at how they build nest.

Too funny! We have robins, there is usually at least one that seems frustrated and warbles incessantly, but we have too many trees to be able to remove their nests. Great collection!

Robins are such amusing people! I love 'em, even if they do eat my beloved woodlice! Oh well! They're still cute and incredibly stubborn. They're also a sure sign of nice and warm weather which I always appreciate. And yeah, I'll be quite interested to see more of this unfolding Robin saga, especially since they are so determined! Great montage!

It's amazing how fast they build. Nice shots.

Two of the shots seem to show some type of lining. Can you tell what it is? Also, a bit of chicken wire in strategic places could easily stop cats from getting too near.

Wow! I bet they were totally worn out at the end of THAT day! =D Thx for sharing, great story!

A couple years ago, I had a pair of robins build a nest on top of the power meter about 18 inches from my back door. I let them stay, and had 4 baby robins to observe. That was fine, but everytime I went out the back door, I had to endure getting repeatedly buzzed by momma and/or pappa robin. It really became a bit annoying. I let them stay until the babies left the nest, then I took it down. I fixed the meter up with wire 'probes' to discourage them from constructing a new one - so far they haven't! Cool shots, Mike!

They definitely are determined.I always found it interesting to see how they construct a nest.

as a child, I watched my father scale his ladder to clean gutters and tearing down robbins' nests. I cried every time he pulled one from the gutter. I realize it was a kindness since the gutters would have filled with spring rain and drowned the chicks but it was such a sad thing to see the work of the two birds being ripped from the roof. The robins would eventually build a nest in the hedges around the property line, but the cats and other predators always killed the chicks almost as soon as they hatched. I always wanted to try relocating the nest to a nearby tree since we had several but I have learned that wouldn't have stopped them from coming back to try the gutters again... I do hope these eggs will make it.

What I like best about Robins is their friendliness. They don't ever seem afraid of people. There is always one or two hopping around getting grubs when I garden. They are really quite companionable. We also have two Robins' nests; one under a corner eve where the drain curves down and out about a half a foot, and another that nests at the corner of our carport, next to our security spotlights. These latter get the benefit of additional warmth for their chicks at night. Both couples have nested there for several years. I have no intention of tearing them down.
