Description

'what a week'! a chain of events, beginning with General Manager implementing a 1 mile camera exclusion zone around the plant and ending with an unfortunate incident at St.Barnabus The Blasphemer, our local Parish Church, had my nerves shredded by Saturday. The only good news was completion of the Bf-109 Dora, ready for test flight.I arrived early Monday for a jaunt, only to find my plane missing! My search led me to the SAD (Space and Astrophysics Department) part of the plant. They've been working on a 'Time Tunnel' or The Aluvium Q36 Space And Time Dissplacement Modulator to give it its proper name, and GM thought it would be a hoot to send the Dora through to 1938.His thinking was that as the Dora was displayed new at the 1937 Duebendorf Airshow in Sweden, having it turn up again a year later would cause red faces for the 'Master Race'.So it was my plane, Tailspin Turner and Dr Von Krupp were dispatched for a 1 hour time lapse.I was going to voice my misgivings but as they had been gone 58 minutes there seemed little point. As the clock ticked down there was a hiss of steam followed by a gurgle, then more steam and....I was handed a rather nice cappuccino, though it could have done with chocolate dusting, just as the Dora rolled silently out of the tunnel and stopped in the middle of the lab.Next, out tumbled the ashen, dissheveled lump that was Tailspin Turner, closely followed by the radiant Dr Von Krupp, her arms outstretched and her eyes brimming with tears. It was soon apparant this whole affair went pear shaped from the outset. The 'Tunnel' operator had turned up without his glasses and misread the instructions.Instead of Duebendorf, Sweden 1938 he'd sent them to Dusseldorf Germany 1939.Rather than a humerous novelty, Tailspin had arrived in the middle of an entire Geschwader of Dora's and he felt it prudent to tag along. He has not gone into details other than to say Poland is lovely from the air. With her wealth of technical experience Dr Von Krupp was employed by Dr Werner Von Braun. This raised the other issue with time travel, the parallax effect, for although they were only away from us for an hour, our intrepid travellers lived for 10 months at the other end. Anyway, one thing led to another and I don't know how but Dr Von Krupp had a baby girl by a dashing young Prussian tank commander. She was just leaving the hospital, baby in arms, when the Tunnel brought her back. However the Tunnel only returns what it sent out.I am reminded of Dr Von Krupp telling me her Mother had an unsightly lump on her forehead all her life, unable to explain it other than she was dropped as a baby, and she never knew her parents, but did know her Father was a Prussian tank commander who died during the war....this worries me..Oh yes 'Tailspin'...he returned a bona fide ACE, with 27 kills( none British) and the Iron Cross 2nd class, along with a letter of congratulations and glowing praise from Reichmarshal Goering. I'm still having no luck making Tailspin realise that nice as the letter is, it is not going to look good attached to his CV. So here we are, my shiny new 2 day old Dora is undergoing a 70yr restoration.Later models are nearing completion before their predecessor, and me ? I'm off to the Chemist for a bottle of 'Just For Men'....covers 100% of grey hair.....I hope so !

OH, my GOODNESS! And I thought today's fare would be a flesh eating "plant" from the Amazonas! And it turned out to be the other "plant", with Tailspin and Dr. von Krupp! Now, this reminds me of a film where a modern aircraft carrier was sucked back in time to the day of the Pearl Harbor attack, only to loose an unsuspecting jet plane to a Jap fighter group. The pilot couldn't get picked up before the carrier was sucked back to its proper time. The pilot lived to become an old navy officer and was at Pearl Harbor the day the carrier was to return from duty from the fateful trip when he was lost in time. BUT, I find YOUR story a lot more informative and, above all, FUN! Yes, the vagarities of time travel. Compression or extension, depending on which direction. Now, didn't Einstein say something about the relativity of time? THANKS a LOAD for the dedication and the fun story! The Iron Cross and letter from Goering was a fun touch. This is probably the explanation for that super ace nobody could identify? Cool indeed! Rating: 10+ Keep up the good work. This fantasy is superb! (More, please!) :-)

What a week you've had!!! Love the update. The factory looks like the work is stacking up a bit. Tailspin never ceases to amaze. Does he know whose side he's on? Does he care? How did I get so behind in your gallery? Must have something to do with taking 400 pictures a day, postworking 18 a day for the blog and trying to get some sleep before moving up the road to our next destination. I'll be back mate for a complete catch-up but it may be a couple of days...we are about to enter a black hole for internet connections. State parks are lovely...but they don't do Wifi and are remotely located even for cell phone use.
