There were two bodies lying at the apex of the site. One was face down. I slowly kicked it over. A shattered helm covering a bleached white skull. Another helm lays a few feet away. Must have belonged to the other suit missing the helm. The skull from that body appears cracked on several lobes. Severely torn E-suits revealing bare leg and arm bones that lost protection, exposed to the elements. Some of those bones appear fractured. Oxygen tanks partially smashed and dented, still strapped to the back of the face-down corpse. One of them busted open from a previous fire or explosion that occurred. There are sensor gauntlets worn on both deceased bodies. One of units is smashed up and broken. The other unit is interesting. Somehow it still has power, but barely though, its nearly drained. It flickers with a dim light in standby mode. I ran a quick check to see the log. The first two days have some activity listed. I pause at the following few phrases, “Personnel: 4. Objective: Stone Burner Ruins. Status: Unit Gamma too sick to continue. Units Alpha and Beta headed back to base. Unit Sigma will stay and tend to unit Gamma” Another heading grabs my attention, “Heart beat: 0. Current health: Deceased. Cause of death: Blunt trauma. Other conditions: Black fever, invasive microbes. Trauma pack: Out, no reserves.” I scan further through the log. Nothing, the next 308 days listed are completely blank.
