Some of you know me as 3D newbie chemicalX here, but I decided to focus my gallery on my new passion in life - photography. I've been dabbling around in photography for a few years now and I've fallen head over heels in love with it. My partner, Shane, got me a Canon EOS 20D for my birthday and started me on a path of obsession! A path that I would like to share through this gallery. The chemicalX gallery will stay up to showcase my 3D stuff and if I do ever get back into it, I'll upload those things there, so keep an eye on that too. I appreciate any feedback I get, so if you have any comments or critique (be it good or bad - as long as it's done in a "civilised" way), please do tell me - it's the only way that I'm going to get better at this. Also, eventhough I don't say thank you to everyone on an individual basis, I do appreciate all the feedback and comments you guys give me. Unfortunately 'rosity makes it quite a mission to say "thanks" to a comment. So just because I don't thank everyone individually, doesn't mean that I am not grateful for all the feedback. Thank you to all of you. If you would like to see more of my stuff, you can check out my gallery on dA. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my gallery. Take care, Yak

What I like about this genre of photography is the strange "disconnection" that occurs. There's a model (professional or just some dude the photographer knows) and then there's a character (someone fictional) and yet in looking at shots like this one, I find myself attempting to see where model and character either come together or diverge. That creates a kind of tension that I love to explore as I always asking myself to define what I'm seeing and to figure out just how much collaboration is taking place between model, photographer, and viewer. I guess because I'm primarily a writer, I'm looking for the story and as your average viewer (with a taste for human-shaped eye-candy) I'm looking to see what I connect with. And in looking at this piece in particular, I'm intrigued by all of the rampant implications of this shot, ranging from simmering sensuality to moderate boredom and perhaps a bit of confusion as to where a particular shit might just have been misplaced...etc. I love these kinds of shots simply because they let my mind wander, and this is very well done...very sleek, very snazzy, and very sexy in that way that the finest human-focused artwork tends to be when shirts humans are being all cute and shirtless. I love the capture of color and texture, of the solid wall and the softer, frail-er human flesh, and the wistful expression on the model's (character's?) face. In short there's a lot to like in this shot and a lot to explore. Excellently done.
