Description

Here is a totem gracing the left hand side of the entry facing inward. This is a tribute in celebration of the fish of Zhaoqing. The city of Zhaoqing has a history which dates back to a time before Christ. The Song Palace marks the high-water point for Zhaoqing, both the Goldfish and Koi are all related to the fish in Seven Star Lake. This was once the winter retreat for the Song Dynasty and later, the capitol of China during the 60 year invasion of The Mongol Khan family. Notice the holes in the wood which represent bubbles on seaweed. The fish are dancing merrily around on their way to the surface, to be fed by the Emperors wife. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did taking them. I am sorry if I have not gotten to all of my friends postings these past few weeks. I have been out of town on business and, of course, teaching English full time is a handful.
