Description

Another interesting corner in downtown Graz: a cozy litte square seen from inside the shop of the Museum of Modern Art. Many Central European old buildings sport religious statues at the corner. Actually a usage much older than Christianity: a divine character protects a dangerous, because liminal, part of a building (the corner, which unites two sides) or a crossroads (where a number of roads meet). This is marvelous and I love corner statues for precisely the reason you stated; I'd learned about that in Prague, while looking at such a corner statue (it was of a kinda cute guy, so naturally I looked.) I love the treatment of this photo as well; there is a hyper-real crispness to it, but it's warm and inviting, not austere at all! Everything is so lively too, so full of motion and excitement. I love that my eye can wander around this and find everything from white elephants (at least metaphorical ones) and little cozy places to sit and read a book. This is really nice and I hope to catch up soon and spot the other gems in your gallery that I've been missing.
