Description

Created back on 4/13/04, employing Bryce, Poser and Photoshop. Worth a ZOOM. In watching the great 1966 war movie, The Blue Max, starring George Peppard, last night, I recalled that I had this bit of 3D art languishing in my long forgotten files, so I decided to borrow the title and post it. For those not in the know, the Blue Max was a coveted medal awarded to any German pilot having downed 20 enemy aircraft. The aircraft in the foreground is a Fokker Dr.I, possibly piloted by the legendary WWI ace, Manfred von Richtofen, the Red Baron, credited with 80 kills. The aircraft in the background, shown in dire straits, is supposedly a Bristol Boxer, according to the model creator, but I could find no information on an aeroplane by that name. The closest I came to it was a Bristol Scout, because of its paucity of wing struts. There was also a Bristol F2.B fighter used during that conflict. Finally, a thousand pardons for no markings on these aeroplanes. Debbielove will get all over me for this oversight but it was done so long ago that I don't remember if there were any supplied. Cheerio, thankx for dropping by, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

Wonderful sense of action, the tilt of the planes is nicely done, as is the prop blur. No markings? They're early stealth craft, I guess! Great work, Harry!

Well, I have heard the name before but it doesn't bring anything exactly to mind! Perhaps one of our English friends might have a better line. The WEB is strangely sient! Nice stern shot!

Ah, the smell of cordite... when pilots chased medals and engineers didn't go on strike and baggage handlers just carried trophies. ....THAT was flying

That was a great movie and still makes my top 100 movie list. Super fight scenes and a super render by you. James Mason also played a great part. Dana

Are they up at dawn? Really like the feel that you've captured...seven years ago already! I recall "The Blue Max" movie like it was yesterday. So many of these daring young men never saw their 25th birthday...it was a very do or die existance. Well done Harry.
