Description

Thank you for stopping by. All your comments and views are greatly appreciated. Leaving the How Weird Series for a bit. Yesterday I participated in the 100th Anniversary of the Bay to Breakers or B2B. This was a special day for me as this was one year ago that I quit smoking after 20 years not to mention the 100 birthday for this amazing footrace. I finished the 7 miles in 2 hours 57 minutes and 55 seconds. Just a few shots along the route with 80 thousand+ participates. Captured at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. I was walking past this historic building out of the corner of my eye I caught 6 gnomes running amok along the grounds. The Bay to Breakers is an annual footrace which takes place in San Francisco, California on the third Sunday of May. The name reflects the fact that the race starts at the northeast end of the downtown area a few blocks from The Embarcadero (adjacent to San Francisco Bay) and runs west through the city to finish at the Great Highway (adjacent to the Pacific coast, where breakers crash onto Ocean Beach). The complete course is 7.46 miles (12 kilometers) long. The event is well-known for many participants wearing costumes, and a few engaging in varying degrees of public nudity. The event was officially the world's largest footrace from 1986 (with 110,000 participants) until it was surpassed in 2010.

Well done, Costa! Good of these little people to pose for you. I quit after 40 years of 30 a day for my millenium project.

Nice shot and story! I quit in 1993, 18 years ago, after a long and serious habit. I saved enough to buy my Jeep TJ Sahara, loaded, in 2003. That is, for those who want the detail, 10 years at $3,000 per year that I saved and I bought the Jeep for just under $30,000. At today's prices you would save a lot more.
