Description

On the afternoon this photo was taken. The storm clouds gathered followed by thunder and lightning; rain anointed the live oaks and wild flowers scattered about the landscape. Then, as the sun light shimmered through the cracks of the clouds, this woman stepped out seemingly from nowhere with her red umbrella as a "Mistress of the Plantation" from the past, walking by to survey the grounds and greet her guests. I wonder how many Mistresses of Oak Alley Plantation there have been. We'll never really know because the property has changed hands many times over the centuries.
