Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, Oregon. It's 235 feet tall. To translate for city dwellers ... that's about the size of a 23 story building. You can check out the Wiki here: Haystack Rock

Did you see the Puffins on Haystack Rock? There aren't a lot of them but they are so cute. This is a great photo of a foggy morning, but the blue sky looks promising of better things to come.

Oooh, that looks like a chocolate coated maringue something-or-other! And I haven't had dinner yet! :) The distance doesn't give an idea how huge that is. However, the people in the distance give an idea of the size. I assume the other large things on the beach are huge rock outcroppings. The haze sure gives this an unreal feel. It looks like there are some more "Haystack" rocks in the distance below the mountain ridge. A quite intriguing photo due to the unusual subject - broad, flat beach and huge monoliths the size of which can't be grasped without the humans in the distance. Great job! Keep it up! :-)

Wow! That's a big rock :) It looks a little cold out there, but a nice place walk. Nice shot, I like that there are people in there ... it gives it scale.

I think you were the one who used the word 'iconic'. Fantastic image. Very moody and a little ominous.

Beautiful shot in the morning mist. T.Rex has me wondering. I assumed that the beach had driftwood on it but is it really rocks. Dana

That is amazing. It looks like the remnant of a volcanic structure, a part of the inner nethers, or whatever you'd call those volcano bits you don't really get to see until they're dead and eroded, but still impressive. I love the fog, the whole sense that this is another world, but then it is another world if you're from somewhere flat like Chicago. Yeah, we have 23 story buildings, but they really aren't that impressive. Not like this! We have wafts of fog too...but not as impressive as this.

Very cool...the overall softness of the image lends an aire of mystery. Great subject handled your way:)
