Description
It turns out that Beinn a'Chuirn (the mountain behind the trees on the right) should be climbed in an anticlockwise direction to avoid the rocky side. My husband decided otherwise. After a 2 hour climb on hands and knees (OK, I was on hands and knees, and he was demonstrating that he may in fact be a mountain goat), we bailed out, and slid the 400m back down on our bums; entertaining, but not worth the climb! This was one of the pictures I took on our walk of shame back down the valley - it turned out we had been within 30m of the top when it got too difficult. The valley, just a few miles north-west of Loch Awe, 40miles or so from Oban, is well worth a walk. The west face of Beinn a'Chuirn is not.

Beautiful shot and great story. I think it would be fun to slide down. I'd like to see more pictures from that area if you have them.

Nice shot and good to hear that you are suffering for your art! Reminiscent of the 19th century painters of the Highlands. Could you post slightly smaller format pics, please? My browser is set to show images full size and I only get one rock at a time!
