Thanks Dad for the photoshop wisdom for achieving this, I think it turns a rather boring "things I saw on my holiday" picture into something a bit more interesting. I used a duplicate layer with a chalk and charcoal and black and white filter on 60% opacity, and then deleted the part of that layer in the middle to show the original photo underneath. More of this to follow I'm afraid, now I've worked out how to do it...

Nice composition and a good bit of postwork - not too overdone. Sky's nicely sorted out. You did well persuading them to put that cross there. I think I'd have been inclined to play about with the perspective a bit (Edit/Transform/Perspective and then pull it around a bit). Not sure whether it wants to be more upright or more slanty. Also look at adjusting the colour & contrast of the main image (could use Curves or Hue/Saturation). Good one.

Nice work. Almost looks like the chalky remains of a volcano or other dust that chokes the life out of the greenery. I like the tilting as it adds to the effect and story line - at least the one I had in my head. haha
