Description

Some of you have asked for a closer shot of this awe inspiring mountain carving. This is as close as the public can get for safety reasons and this shot was zoomed on a 17.5 - 45mm lens. You can see scaffolding on the head and white paint marks for the horses head, for a closer look I suggest zoom. Jeff.

This isn't a comment on your photo as I think you have shot it beautifully, but just to be the devil's advocate, would they have gotten away with doing this environmental vandalism at Yosemite? Would they be able to carve, lets say for example Donald Rumsfeld's big fat head in El Capitan!!!! If not, why not? Mount Rushmore was carved in less environmentally aware times.....but this? We could stop the water at Niagara Falls and carve a huge bust of Donald Trump into the rock face!

I love this shot. I have waited and waited for this incredible carving to be finished. It has been too long in recognizing a legend to the native people. I'm so happy to see this, but I sure wish they would work as hard on this as they did with Rushmore.

We have many mountains and rock cliffs...I absolutely fail to see the arguement against this carving (I've heard them all). It will be wonderful. Thanks for showing us this work of art in progress.

I won't get involve in the for and against argument of the carving. I do find the work done mind boggling! Excellent shot Jeff!

This is of monumental proportions - for sure, I would love to see it ready in my lifetime - probably too much to ask for and an impossible task for some - others could ! Besides all that - marvellous job you did, Jeff BB

Thanks :) Fascinating watching the progress. A shame that it's completion is so far off. I would have loved to see it. Doesn't look like it will be in my lifetime though.
