Description

(ZOOM FOR DETAILS!) Bellikor was in his element but his work style baffled observers: He did not translate entire volumes. Instead, he worked a section or passage and then worked on another related manuscript. Somehow he tracked what had and had not been examined and amassed a tremendous amount of relational information in a relatively short time frame. Nobody could figure out what he was doing at any given time. Aranée had healed well and indeed seemed more robust than at any time since she had first gained consciousness in the fortress. Amikas attributed most of her shakiness in the upstairs warrens to her battle with infection, but still felt compelled to forbid her from returning there for a time. This was quite alright with her and she and her escorts renewed their exploration of other areas of the fortress city. They discovered a small open courtyard with a free-running fountain, and it became a favorite lunch spot. One day they sat eating when she was interrupted by the sound of the rusty courtyard gate. She looked up to see Mubela, Bellikor, the Elf warrior and virtually the entire complement of Jobil soldiers enter the courtyard. They were all looking at her with odd expressions and the Elf guard came and stood at stiff attention behind her. They quietly entered and removed their headgear as they stood silently before her. "What is this all about? Is somebody dying?" With sober expressions, Mubela and Bellikor came forward. Mubela nodded at him and he spoke. "Your Gr... er... Aranée... we found something... incredibly important in the archive." Uncharacteristically at a loss for words, he paused and glanced at Mubela and she nodded encouragement. Aranée arched a brow. "Bellikor, I would like to finish my lunch. Can we please get on with it?" He sighed and tried again. "We have discovered who owned the items in the vault, who occupied the private suite. His name was... An'tuwin Ul'riyaal..." He paused. Her skin tingled and the hair on her scalp stood on end. She knew this name! Who was he? She racked her brain and regained focus just as Bellikor cleared his throat. "Aranée, that was the royal suite - An'tuwin Ul'riyaal was the last king of Aeriteuin. I confirmed it in the official history, in another book and in his own private journal. The latter two texts also included pertinent other... substantial information." Another glance at Mubela. "Aranée, he is the one you saw writing in your Book of Judgment." She looked at him uncomprehendingly. "Aranée he was your father. Your real name is Aranée Ul'riyaal. And you, M'Lady... Your Grace... you are the rightful hereditary... High Elf... queen of Aeriteuin." --- TO BE CONTINUED! We just recently got back from disaster relief classes - quite a sobering experience. The story will resume again, but I'm not sure of the pace: The panels will become progressively more complex as the full panorama of the story is revealed. It will take me a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to compose the scenes - and keep from crashing Carrara doing it LOL! After all this time it is hard to believe: If Aranée were a movie, we are now in the final reel. View episodes in sequence for the entire story. Please leave a comment or suggestions, your words encourage me to carry on... Image and story © 2011 by Larry Hodge

Whoa, great story! Keep it up! Disaster relief class: been there. (I'll bet mine was scarier than yours: Nuclear strikes, fallout, etc. Made the earthquake classes pale in comparison.) Praying for your health, my friend.

The image is breath-taking! So many characters and the light looks terrific. And then there is the story - I can't say this is a surprise, but still very dramatic when it is revealed. Your story-telling is superb!

A wonderful scene, Larry. I count fourteen characters here. It's a wonder Carrara didn't melt down on you! I don't know which is more fun: watching the story unfold, looking at your wonderful scenes, or watching your skills develop with each new image. Perhaps it's a combination of all three. At any rate, love the story, the characters, and the images that you use to enhance your excellent writing. Very well done, it always leaves me wanting more. Can't wait for the next installment! Congrats on finishing your disaster training course. Now you know what so many others would rather not to think about. I fervently hope you need never put your new knowledge to use...

Great scene. Lot of work to pose all those characters separately. Excellent read. Should be an interesting run to the end as the implications of this unfold. I'm counting on a sequel too. Excellent work.

My scalp was tingly as I read this work - though I knew from the first few panels of your story, a long time ago, that she would be of nobility and so really this comes as no great surprise. However, how you have laid out the presentation has its own unique twist.

this is amazing, I am sort of surprise that program can handle all those people unless you have a super power computer! I know very little about Carrara, as I am more of a Vue user and Vue probably cant handle all those poser stuff

Wonderful build up to the moment where she learns the truth of her past. She has lost so much, at least now she has regained the knowledge of her history, even if her relatives are lost to her. Beautiful scene and composition. Great crowd scene, which I can tell by the previous comments, is not easy. Lovely detail and textures in the background. Excellent work!
