Description
Hashi gets a licking from Skiball... Some of you may remember the ever, oh so cute photo of these guys earlier. Well, Skiball's sister disappeared last year, so he and Hashi have become even closer buds to the point that, as they mooch up and down the street and find a meal, one will wait and call for the other to join in. Absurd.
Not quite in the same genre as the ferret shots of late, but there is a connection. Someone asked about the ferrets being 'mousers.' Ah, no. Not this crew.
When we moved into the house, we shared it with a few resident mice and figured the seven ferrets we had would soon take care of that. One evening, I was putting the guys into their room and I espied a mouse climbing a bakers rack with 'stuff' on it. Calmly as I and the rat pack went about our business. Suddenly the mouse fell off.
The 'Plop' and few steps he took immediately interested the ferrets who went to investigate. However, the mouse 'froze' and the ferrets went right past him!! I grabbed two of the more rowdy morons and pointed them nose-a-nose with the mouse and both ferrets looked at me as if I'd either gone nuts or the nighttime treat was overdue. I'd swear they were asking: You expect us to eat Ratsputin????
The danged things had adopted the mouse as a pet.
Maybe some other ferrets will chase mice, but they don't live here.
The cats however, have done an admirable job of wiping out all sorts of vermin. The other AM I was feeding them outside (they are outdoor cats we've been adopted by) and Skiball came to the feeding station with a live, young rat in his mouth to wait for me to pour the biscuits. He put the rat down, it scampered over the deck, and by now Hashi and his mother Treyball had appeared.
I was treated to the sight of three fuzzy cat butts nosediving over the rail in hot pursuit. Real mouse morsels and actual Rat-atui are preferred to canned food.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
