UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

What an appallingly sad story...Lawyers are the sperm of the devil.

The people who brought the suit should be forced to restore her. Sad picture

Obviously the people who were suing over ownership didn't want her either so why did they bother..

There is much beauty in this old wreck Bill together with the sad tale of her demise. Great shot.

Wow. It's funny how to me the average abandoned car is an eyesore. But a shipwreck seems romantic and interesting. Thanks for posting this.

Like the bridge

Wow, hardly distinguishable from driftwood at this juncture. That is one old mother! Nevertheless, excellent clarity, colors and composition in this one, Bill. And, chuckling at Andrea's "sperm of the devil" description. I'll have to remember that for future use.

Sad tale. Good comment, Andrea.

Excellent capture and info Bill. A sad tale but she is still there, for folks to photograph and keep 'her' story alive. Dana

And once again we see how politics and lawyer finigling benefits everyone.... Pathetic... Oh well, I guess it makes for a good photography subject - which you captured very well, I might add! Nice one, Bill!

Awesome photo !! Great POV with the bridge in the backround.

These old wrecks have a certain feel about them and I always wonder how they ended up so abandoned and ruined. There used to one in Humboldt Bay; an old dredge. A bunch of college kids partied on it and burned it completely. One way to get rid of it, I guess. Looks like this one will just slowly rot away. Too bad. Great shot, though.

I always wonder what these things are like on board (if there were safe ways on board.) What lives there? What stories might you find either carved, embedded, or simply rusting on or below-deck. There's something haunting about dead and abandoned ships, and this shot captures that perfectly. This is some well done stuff, and it's incredibly touching looking at this while listening to the soundtrack to The Social Network...kinda spooky, really, since the song playing (the most moody one) is "The Gentle Hum of Anxiety." There's a nicely abstract and evocative piano bit in it and it fits this image perfectly!

but she still smiles with a little bit of color here and there waits warm hugs, Linda

I find it very sad to gaze at a derelict like this. The lawsuit, however may have been necessary because something might happen while being restored that winds up leaving others holding the bag.

Seeing this vessel in a state of de-construction must be much like seeing it being built. Just a moment in time with the deck joists visible. Great composition with the bridge in the background. Wonderful capture!

LOL at Andrea - but I have to agree - very sad... but a lovely capture. I would have loved to see this old girl in her youth!
MrsRatbag
Excellent shot, I like it just like this, decay and all...

What a sad pic of her, she looks a bit better in the pic on the sight, its a shame!!!
tennesseecowgirl
Very sad to see.. thanks for sharing this.

I find old wrecks to be so very sad...I have cried at the sight of many. Cars, houses, barns, boats... all a symbol of neglect, loss of future and options. This is particularly sad - and I haven't even read her history. They really ought to "put her down completely" and end her suffering. This is no way to live.

SUPERB SHOT

Now THERE'S a nice fixer-upper! LOL AWesome find and capture!

What do lawyers actually contribute to society? This piece of history thrown away. Didn't have to be. This looks like a person's family after divorce lawyers get done with it.

incredible history behind this derelict
