Description

Here you see a couple of dead trees in the geyser fields of Yellowstone N.P. You can also see steam rising from the very fragile and thin crust of the Earth, The whole area is a massive volcano waiting to spring into life and when it does ???????. Have a nice day! Jeff.

As fascinating as this place is...don't you feel a bit safer home looking at your pictures of it:) Well done Jeff! Just saw that you too visited the watchtower at Grand Canyon. Suppose we had both been there at the same time? We might have brushed elbows on the stairs and never recognized we were passing another RR photog.

Yes the basin is what is called a caldera. There is another one at the north pole which is even larger. It has become active again in the past 30 years and is responsible for the massive ice melts we have been seeing. This is a splendid shot by the way, and a very good capture.
