Description

I do not know if these people live and fight for our country or help make things for the arm forces but they die and as you see the wind mills in the back ground working with free wind. They may even protested against the wars. But war is part of life. sorry to say. I like to thank all who lived and die to make our lives the way it is today. It not the best and in some parts of the world it needs a lot of improvement. Like Somalia still got slaves going on and it the Muslims who is putting people into slavery. What really get me is people yelling about slavery of the past in our country and no one saying about what going on today. Thought slavery was outlaw in the 1800's world wide. Sorry to get off like this but that is what today is about in the USA freedom of speech and the thankful hearts of the people who made it so in the past. this was taken in New Mexico and the grave yard is on 206 at Pleasant Valley I thank it on 206. it the road running parallel to the Texas panhandle. as I was going south

I always like stopping to pay respects to cemeteries that are in out of the way places, that seem to be forgotten to all but a few living souls. This sort of place has a very personal feeling to it, even though I know no one buried here. My great uncle died at 19 in France during WWI. My father served 7 years, both stateside and in Europe during WWII. Several of my high school friends served during Vietnam and Desert Storm and a few did not come home. Your words and your photo are very thoughtful.

Somber capture of the old somber graveyard, Jock. Really needs some tender maintenance. And thank you for the tribute to those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice.

slavery was a big part of the early US, but the slave traders were from Europe and as well as unscrupulous Africans selling their countrymen. when I visit graveyards, I think about who the people were and what they done in their life

A point well taken about slavery and the graveyard for those that went before us. Dana
