Description
the no trucks sign makes sense on this very old one lane bridge, but 20 tons is okay?other than a truck, only Sherman tank or a very huge caterpillar would weigh that much.for sure I would not cross in any thing weighing more than a heavy pickup.maybe they were thinking about the heavy Cadillac of the president that hit bottom leaving the embassy in Ireland
it crosses a railroad and on a small road to local farms near Durant , Oklahoma

Great shot. I love signage, especially signage as art. It leaves so many questions. Apparently trucks might be allowed under certain circumstances as one of the signs has a removable bit where extra bits can be inserted, and the 20 ton weight limit probably refers to a truck with a load. I can only guess that after having spent far too much time in big, heavy, stinky trucks...the weight of a truck without a load is one thing, with a load is something else, and it's up to the number fiddlers to determine who gets a ticket. Funny how that works. Great shot: I like this a lot.

Nope, I won't risk my life crossing that bridge if I am a trucker. Great shot, Richard!

Nice capture Richard, your right what weighs that much lol..

This sure reminds me of some the bridges we have here except we have another sign attached that says yields to on coming traffic. I'm glad my truck doesn't weigh 20 tons. Aloha

Very Good.

Great find and capture. The road looks pretty broken. Of this we have here a lot. The municipalities have no money for repairs.

It does have a conflict there! How about a small herd of elephants!

Great capture! Maybe it is allowed if you register your truck as something else? ;o)

sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, good shot

Great capture Richard. The contradiction between signs could cause serious confusion. I have to admit that if I ever saw a 20 ton catepillar I would be awfully worried about just how big the butterfly is gonna be when it comes out of its cocoon. :)

wonderful shot!

Great eye to spot this Richard, and I'd hate to be in anything that weighed 20 tons trying to cross that.
eekdog
we have a few confusing signs like that here also Richard, cool find.

You are correct for (20 tonnes 40 000 pounds) but the signals a little crazy ........ We need a good laugh from the mistakes of cities and their stories Cereal Monogamist. But good catch hilarious as: Think about it though lol .....
