Here is the next image in my series depicting the various sub-races of elves in my "world". The Sea Elves are the third group of elves, along with the First Born and Sky Elves, to be among the original sub-races to inhabit the planet. The Sea Elves are by far the most exotic looking of the elven sub-races with colorful skin, hair and eyes. The lack of visible sclera tends to make them appear more alien than land elves, but they are actually one of the few groups of elves that are friendly to non-elves, even going out of their way to aide sailors in trouble. While the sea is far from a gentle place to live the Sea Elves never seem to lose their sense of wonder or joy over the many beautiful things contained in their world. They're curious about everything, and tend to see something positive in even the most disheartening situation. They are fierce when threatened though and any seeking to harm their people will quickly realize that they've made a grave error in thinking the Sea Elves are easy victims. Like the other elves they have strengths based upon the element that Mother Magic combined with the create the elves. Within the ocean the Sea Elves have power over water elementals and a limited ability with psionics. Mostly they use their mental abilities to communicate with one another. For short periods of time they can go on land, but they have to take care to keep their skin moist, and breathing becomes increasingly difficult after much time. For these reasons they prefer to stay in their oceans, but infrequently their representatives on the Elven High Council will venture to First Home if there is a matter that requires their input. Even their attendance to council meetings is rare though as more than any other sub-race of elves the Sea Elves see the First Born as the leaders of the Elven Nation. Much to the frustration of the Wood Elves, Dark Elves and Sky Elves this generally means that they vote in council meetings as a block with the First Born regardless of the issue. This being the case they quite often don't bother to attend council meetings as it's simply assumed that they will support whatever side The Voice of the First prefers.
