Description

Here is my version of the milkmaid's home. The original painting by Vermeer only shows the milkmaid, leaving to imagination the rest of the room. In my vision the maid is preparing bread milk for the owner of the house, a wealthy merchant of the Dutch East India Company. I dont pretend to be period exact with some objects in the room, there are various anachronisms. It is a play with light and composition. Many thanks for your visit, comments and favorites. It is a magic composition playing with light. It confirm my conviction that it is better to learn from the old masters than looking at digital art. I love all the details! The cat silhouette is the final touch. An instant favorite!

Well. I think you have done a great job here. It has the look and the feeling of a classical Dutch painting despite the anachronisms. The mood however is outstanding.
