Description

This week I received word that my youngest brother, John, had died suddenly and unexpectedly. The shock of that news has still not worn off, and the enormity of the loss is only beginning to sink in. He was the best and the brightest of us, a genius at both electronics and software who was our "go to" guy for all thorny technical issues. His quick wit and dry humor always kept us laughing at our family get-togethers. It seems to me that the universe has suddenly become a much darker and colder place. John loved Star Trek, and especially TOS. With his photographic memory, he could quote entire sections of dialog, and instantly cite episode titles for any scene we could remember. Because of his fondness for this iconic bit of Science Fiction, I have chosen to use that context for this homage to him. In the words of The Bard (and quoted by Captain Picard in the ST:TNG episode "The most toys"): "He was a man, take him for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again." - Shakespeare's "Hamlet", Act 1, Scene 2 Embrace the long night, little brother. The struggle of life is over and now you can rest in peace. Credits: Background is a public domain release by NASA of a Hubble telescope deep-space capture. Hi RJS; I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I can imagine how you feel - I have only a brother and dread anything happening to him. A little solace - we live in the three dimensional part of the universe, BUT, we are of the 6th dimension, stuck in 3D bodies, which serve as our interface with the 3D (matter part) of the universe. When the material body gives way, we are released from the 3D and pass into the 6th dimension (home, as many who've had near-death-experiences call it). Since the 6th dimension permeates the 3D part of the universe, those who have passed into the 6th dimension are always with us, though we can't see or communicate with them since we're still in our 3D material interfaces (=bodies). Note- time as we perceive it in the 3D does not exist in the 6th dimension, which, furthermore, is an energy dimension. How do I know such things? I have read numerous accounts from near-death-experiences, and have met people who have told me the above from their experiences. Hence, I'm forewarding you this for your solace. Your brother is with you, though you (in your 3D body) can't see him. Of importance - cry it all out, and it will help you through the immediate sorrow. God bless! PS- I've looked back at your image of the Sumerian man - thanks for the long reply to my comments. Much appreciated!

Wonderful and touching tribute to your brother. As a fan of the show myself, I can remember that episode, as well as appreciate the imagery. Your description of your brother is very eloquent and moving. Indeed, I can clearly see a glimmer of the type of person he was. It is a shame that he is gone just when the world needs many more like him.
