"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

A fantastic "Landing" ;-), and a beautiful capture of it. The glow on it is so very beautiful and fine. How can a statue be more elegantly!

A beautiful statue Bill! It was not in Cannon Beach when I was last there...guess it's time I went back! Great shot too by the way!

I have to agree with Jeff... I miss wondering through galleries - I must get out more! Love the selective desaturation, Clive

I can't believe I totally missed this statue, but there you have it ... two photographers standing in the same place will see totally different things. While you were taking this picture, I was shooting reflection shots in the shop windows. LOL! I'm sorry to have missed her!

Yupp! Different people see different things and percieve things differently. This, a nude? However, her drink (?) is falling out of the shell as she's holding it slanted. That's what I first noticed. What's adding interest here is the off-center background framing and strikingly contrasting colors. You've done a good one here, Bill. Now try to beat THAT (I bet you can!). Keep up the good work. :-)

She is beautiful!!!

Seeking an offering from the gods. Super stellar capture, Bill. I love this kind of stuff, whether they be sleek and polished like this one or corroded like old Greek and Roman statues.

Looks almost Art Nouveau. Beautiful statue and an excellent shot!

SUPERLATIVE IMAGE!

The first thing I thought when I saw this was: Art Nouveau...and I think her brother resides at the Prague Castle...only he's completely, utterly naked, and his...um...twiddly bits are polished all bright and garishly shiny due to visitors...making sure that at least one part of the statue remains highly polished. But anyway, I'm rambling. I do that a lot, you know. So, about this image. It's incredible. You've captured so much, especially the really sheer clothing she's wearing. Cudos to you and to the sculptor for being able to capture such fine material in bronze! This is amazing.

LOL!!! Glad you clarified that, Bill! You wouldn't want anyone sending you nasty-grams about posting nudes! LOL! This is a lovely shot, Bill - and what Tara said... I've seen that so many times. We had a Saturday morning photo field trip many years ago when I was vice-president of a photo club. We had around a dozen members show up at Barny-Aliis Plaza. We could shoot anything we wanted, but we had to all stay inside the plaza. When we all had the film (remember film??) developed, it was amazing to see the differences and the variety of photos that came out of that trip. Litterally, no two photos were alike. Anyway, this is lovely. So graceful.... I may have to try and duplicate that pose in Poser! :-D
