Oh, this is exquisite! I love the light touch you have, the sense of balance and color is amazing, and there's a sense that this is also an old and well-loved place. I can imagine people here; of course they're behind the doors and up the stairs, probably listening to music, playing dominoes, gossipping and maybe even drinking some kind of clear brandy. This is one of those images that inspires little stories like that, and that's one of the many reasons why I like this piece. Really superbly done. I also agree that you've perfectly captured the feeling of sunshine (on a nice day) and the stairs look so familiar to me...I think I might have spent time on them with Stepan (in his green and white football socks) drinking stuff, smoking cigarettes, and discussing the fine points of monster truck racing.

I am always amazed at the wealth of detail, motion, and complexity you create with such a light touch. Beautiful curves and angles, shade and light, pastel and dark colors. I love the shaded area above the stairs, the detail of the curved roof, and variations of green in the doors. This is gorgeous! I absolutely love it!
