Description

When we went to Union Station last week, I found a wonderful clock in one corner of the building - this is part of the clock movement. I was fascinated by the really cool, steampunk-looking gears and escapements, so naturally I had to take several photos.... I'll upload a photo of the whole clock in a day or so.. It stands about 7 feet tall. This was taken with existing light, and hand-held. Things have been a bit overwhelming the last week, and probably will remain so for the next week. With the screwy hours I'm working now, plus a whole host of family issues I've had to sort out, time has been at a premium. If I manage to make it through next week without losing what little mind I have left (LOL), I'll have a week off to relax (whatever that is...I can't remember LOL). I'm way behind on commenting - hope to get caught up in the next few days.. Glad to see kittybabe back with us again :-D Thanks as always for all your comments and support! As Milena said, this community is awesome! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Only moments ago, you said to me: "A most delightful photo, my dear friend! Wonderful angle, and wonderful subject! Now, I'm convinced our brainwaves are riding the same cosmic plane:" Physical Representation of a Nonspatial Continuum Is that freaky, or what?

I love old gears and new gears and cogs and springs and all of those other twangdoodles that make up older forms of technology and this is a perfect showcase of all of that! This is so incredibly well seen and nicely complex; I'd love to see this in person; it's already setting my mind off in all sorts of directions, including straight to Agara, where stuff like this is common, everyday stuff, albeit a bit older. This is a real marvel of a photograph!

Cool Rod. I haven't seen this in Union Station, BUT, the one in Snohomish (near where we live) is even painted the same green with gold and black pinstriping or whatever old clockmakers called such decorative painting. Love your view of the innards:)

Hope you get it sorted soon and DO NOT worry about comments mate, all that rubbish can wait I think! Cool photo BTW, that must be one awesome clock to see up close eh? What wonderful engineering quality, built to stand the test of time (oh? I'm funny ain't I - LOL)

Excellent capture! Fine old clock - much more fascinating than digital version of the same kind! Time enough is always the problem - but so it is...! :o]

I really LOVE this, gears are so col to look at and watch move. Though, my favorite type of gear to watch are the mechanisms of a music box...I am always mesmerized by the beautiful gracefulness as it plays.
