Description

I worked on this for days and I'm kind of nervous about uploading it, but if I don't, I'll sit and pick at it for weeks. This is the first shot of the main idea for the shoot with Candy and Terence. It is, of course, inspired by the movie "Black Swan". Just... our take on it :) I'm really proud of this one. Models: Candy Weir and Terence Orpen Make-Up Artist: Stavroula Georgakis Assistant: Shane Smith Location: Johannesburg, South Africa More info about the shoot here Thanks in advance for all comments, favourites and watches. Even if I don't reply and say thanks to all of them, I really appreciate all the feedback you guys give me. All images are copyright (c) Johann Marx. Really super! The location is stunning and it is as much of a welcome presence as the two characters themselves; there's an interesting tension I feel in this too. I think it comes from the light/dark combination, and also the way the eye wanders along very specific sitelines. First there are the characters themselves, and they're a bit curvy and sexy and frail, as humans would be (no matter how many muscles they have) and then there's the girder work of what looks to be an abandoned warehouse or some such place...very nice horizontals and diagonals and some nice verticals as well. It all creates what should be an unruly jumble, but it's not...it's quite compelling and nicely tense in every conceivable, emotional way. Great models too, I'll bet they were fun to work with!

I like it. The setting is nifty, the lighting is stunning as always, and something about this photo is just cute.
