BIO
My love for digital art started about 2001 when I created simple 2D-wallpapers for my Star Wars homepage. I always was annoyed with the picture-material I had, as it never fitted to my needs and I wanted to create more unique images. Searching the net for a program that could solve my problem I found Bryce. Soon I was a member of a Yahoo-group and everybody was talking about Poser..... That was the beginning of my friendship for this wonderful program! Everyday I learn more about this "mysterious" program and I think I'll never learn everything ;o) Hopefully one day I have the chance to build my own digital models, but at the moment I love it to texture models with PhotoImpact. That's it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! ~Saskia~
Update 2008
Sorry to say that, but I nigh completely abandoned Poser from my workspace, as I've moved on to Carrara, an application I learned to love and that challenges my intention to finally build my own models. I just have to find a way how and where to start learning....

Looks good Saskia. Other than the ivy and the flintlock, there's not really anything that stands out as needing to be corrected for the next one. I was thinking that maybe the cloth texture on the frock coat was a tiny bit too big, but after looking at it again, it isn't. Lighting looks good and even, sort of an overcast day effect. And yeah, 41 hours of render time, I'd just fix things on the next one as well :) . Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Great looking character and setting (the ivy could have done with a pot!)

Most excellent, and at least you know if you make a mistake, admit it, and strive to correct it next time. It's what makes us grow as artists. Actually, I'd say that there is very little wrong. I've seen ivy that is almost that huge and growing right up through cracks between the cobblestones, too.

Yikes - 41 HOURS! Well it looks great, I wouldn't fret too much about the details you mentioned. (In fact, probably no one would have notice them if you hadn't pointed them out LOL!) Nice work!

Love it, near perfect. 41 hours, I assume you're using full indirect lighting. See if you can fake it a little with a light dome and selective lighting. One of Carraras coolest tricks is to be able to set a light to ignore selected items. This works well for hair. Duplicate a light so you have 2 identical lights in the same spot, set one for hair with no soft shadows, set the other for everything else with soft shadows enabled. See the render speed increase. A soften brush in post may be needed sometimes.
