Description
Here the procedure with Wita, the daughter of a good friend of mine (thank you Nyoman for inviting me) . They let join to the expensive ceremony also the neigbour children, so they where with Wita's sister 4 teenagers which got their teeth filed.

Well I suppose it's no worse than the torture we put our children through with all the braces on their teeth that many of them wear during their early teens...and it only takes one day, not months or years. Besides, you are the center of attention at an elaborate party afterwards.

@ dakotabluemoon ...i agree, but the cermony was really something else,very interesting, impressive and mystic @ bodo_56 & jophoto ...yepp, one girl cried as the hit a nerve... but the other three had no problem. guess the hour of preparing and make up (4 costume changes !) where worst. Oherwise they enjoyed it.

All over the world There are different Ceremonies welcoming children or Young adulds into adulthood. This is very interesting way. Very well done!!!

That's wild, wonder what that is he is rubbing on the Raw tooth in that last frame, maybe Oil of Clove. Great stuff man, I have had the great good fortune in my life to have traveled extensivily and see many strange and amazing Rituals of many different Cultures. Most are fascinating and awe inspiring but some like the Gadhimai festival in Nepal are downright Brutal and Scarey but it's not for me to Judge others beliefs. Peace

Fantastic series of pictures. Thank you for sharing. I was afraid they might hit a nerve. Our Western prejudices can get in the way of memorable moments. On my last visit I was invited to a cremation. I felt uncomfortable at the big ceremony that was made out of it and so I didn't take any pictures and missed it all.
