Description

Found this Daring Jumper (Phidippus Audax) when trimming the shrubs last week. Kept her for several days now in hopes of getting some shots like this. Having her doesn't seem to make getting a great shot much easier, but it does give me more chances to get some. This is by far and away my fav shot I have taken of a Jumper (or most any other insect/spider). Tried some tone mapping to get a more vivid look to my shots. Curious what others think of the PP. This is absolutely superb work and the work you've put into it really does show. I've had occasion to visit with jumping spiders, but I have to say that they're notoriously bad at posing...well...they don't even try to pose, but that doesn't matter. They're among my favorite spiders around: possibly because their legs are essentially hydraulic, and just very, very strange...but then Nature tends to try novel things in terms of getting its biological creations to move around. I love the details in this shot and the clarity of those eyes (all of them!) Gorgeous, highly successful work!
