Description

Please Full View! Found this Clear-wing Wasp Moth on the old Oak tree today right after it had emerged from the pupa (about 15mm). Brought it inside for some pics on a house plant. The larva burrow into the bark of the oak and wait to emerge later. I think its about a year between. Then these beauties come out ready to pollinate. Haven't been to many this season. But it seems to go in a up and down trend. Last year there were a lot more. So next summer should be plentiful if the trend continues. What a ham that creature is, look at that grin lol. At least, it looks like a grin, not sure if they actually have mouths like that. Extremely nice picture.
