Now this is the kind of castle I'm accustomed to seeing when I think of castles. I lived for 2 years in the Czech Republic and the Czech idea of a castle looks nothing like this! (They look like small towns with odd paint jobs! Usually they're made of stone, with stucco applied, and then the stucco is painted to look like stone; the old Czechs must have been paid by the hour when building castles!) Anyway, after a bit of a ramble, I have to say that this is a gloriously moody, perfectly seen-and-captured image. The sense of history is rather palpable in this and the muted colors are astonishing. This is excellent!

This place is so magical. I love Scotland a lot and I often go on vacation in your beautiful part of the world. We spent our honeymoon on the Isle of Skye. :o))) Being Breton I suppose we have special bonds with the Scots. Ha, there is nothing like a lone piper pipbroching on the heath... Great shot.

Mate scotland is a place thats on my list after seeing joe's books on the highlands and the coast I'd love to see it, and I love those dank dreary days. lovely historical shot mate. Don't know wether you've heard of him but there's a guy named bruce percy who has some great photos of your area I think he's as good as joe. also uses large format.

Another on my must see list. Dreary it may be but I would take her as she is. Next summer.

My one trip to Skye was a magical trip, albeit a distant memory. I was a huge fan of the movie "Highlander" so visited many of the sites (sights?) from the film. I never managed a shot of Eilean Donan unfortunately as 1) it was film camera days so you couldn't rattle off 50 shots & clone out the crowds & 2) every available vantage point was occupied by a hundred tourists (camouflaged, slim & very quiet ). Am sure you know the ones I mean! Would give my right arm to go back though.... It speaks volumes for both the place & the photographer that even a dank day can yield such a wonderful photo!

The Eilean Donan! What is a Scotland trip without this magical place? It was one of the finest moments in my life to see the upcoming castle when we drove across a street curve... The rain was pouring down, it was mist all around between te mountains, and far away over the loch the sun broke through..... And then the masses of tourists on the parking areas (LOL) Great capture and a wonderful POV!
