Description
Found what I thought was a very unique set of stairs, while touring the John Buttrick House. The US park Service uses this restored home as their area headquarters in the Lexington and Concord area, in Massachusetts. I am guessing that this building was at least 250 years old. There is a slight tilt in this photo – I was leaning over a rope to get this shot.

Fabulous indoor shot, Dana. 250 years old, and renovated how many times? The structure looks like it was built yesterday, especially with that beautifully ornate flight of stairs.

WOW! They look like interestingly arranged books! It's easy to imagine that each step has a story to tell...count the steps and you have that many novels! How cool is that!? I don't think that the book image was wholly intentional, but it's what jumped out at me. It's also an M.C. Escher staircase...if you walk on the upside down stairs, you'll conceivably go somewhere...only without rails. This is such an amazing, intriguing, well seen shot. I really like this a lot!

Certainly a very classic and old style of staircase, quite a bit of intricate carpentry workmanship you will never experience nowadays anymore - but still as interesting ... great attention to detail, BB
