Description

Picture taken 19 June 2011 while visiting the ”Plate Dessous les Monts” Certified Nature Reserve in Tintigny (South Belgium). Six-spot Burnet on Succisa pratensis The Burnets belong to the Zygaenidae - a family which in many respects appears to straddle the gap between butterflies and moths - they are brightly coloured, fly in sunshine, and have clubbed antennae; but they rest with the wings folded down, and they pupate in silk cocoons. La Zygène de la spirée (Zygaena filipendulae), appelée aussi Zygène de la filipendule est un insecte lépidoptère de la famille des Zygaenidae. C'est un « papillon de nuit », actif durant le jour. L’insecte est photographié ici sur une fleur de succise des prés Thank you very much for your comments on my previous upload: thumb_2217339.jpg "The Ringlet"
