Description

Panorpa communis, the common scorpionfly, is a species of scorpionfly native to Western Europe. The common scorpionfly has a black and yellow body, with a reddish head and tail. The male has a pair of claspers at the end of its tail (for holding the female during mating), giving it a scorpion-like appearance, although it is not a stinger. Panorpa communis est l'espèce de panorpe la plus commune en Europe occidentale, elle est plus connue sous le nom de mouche-scorpion. Très facilement reconnaissable avec ses longues mandibules en forme de bec et ses 2 paires d'ailes tachetées. Le mâle possède un abdomen relevé faisant penser à une queue de scorpion.
