Description
Captured 5/26/11, in the lobby of the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific, in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Don't bother zooming, it comes out the same size.
One of the most interesting features of the vast Blue Cavern are its two divers, who swim about, tending the denizens of the deep, thereby creating a captivating deep sea atmosphere for the visitors to gaze at in wonder.
These pics are from my first visit to the Aquarium, where I used my Pentax DSLR. I followed this up with an expensive return to the Aquarium on 6/21/11, toting along my Canon PowerShot SX20 point-and-shoot camera in hopes of getting better results by using its aquarium setting. That experiment with the divers proved futile, with much poorer fotos. I even tried it on some other settings with no better luck. Ergo, all future diver pictures will be from the first visit. But, the aquarium camera setting proved to be pretty good with the other exhibits.
It was necessary to sacrifice some sharpness in lowering the grainy effects in most of the Blue Cavern shots.
BTW, I've covered all kinds of events and environments over the years: air, auto, flower and spider shows, boats, trains, botanical gardens, museums, picket fences, post-storm clouds, parades, parks, Civil War reenactments, zoos, etc., and the aquariums have proven to be a considerable harrowing experience in comparison when taking photos, for reasons I will relate later.
One added note for those who may be interested. In a span of 33 days, I visited the Aquarium of the Pacific twice, and then once at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in semi beautiful San Pedro, California. And I'm still recovering from it all. Unless it's on a deserted island, no more aquariums for me!
So long for today, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

I've never tried aquarium shots; I may have to give them a go, but I can imagine that it's quite a challenge. You've done well here!

These are wonderful aquarium captures with just enough atmosphere to give a mysterious feel to them. Excellent work and you do sound to have been very busy.

I like these shots and collage Harry especially the interaction with the fish. The screaming kids can take its toll. Dana
