not something one sees everyday.they are always flying over my area but I never see them land.once one hawk had no idea that I was on the roof and it came skimming just over my roof.I did not know whether it was more startled or myself

This looks like a red-tailed hawk - at least from what I can see here. Nursed one back to health for about a month once and got to know her pretty well. She was very smart and never once offered to attack me even if I crawled all the way into her cave to get her water and food bowls, which she always would push around. She knew I was helping her. Having to let her go at last broke my heart but better for her!
