Description
This is a type of poisonous snake that is called Bocaraca (Eye Lash Viper). They can vary in color significantly, but the yellow ones are my favorite. This particular one was photographed at the Cahuita National Park just meters from the beach on the Caribbean Coast.
My approach to photographing snakes, in particular poisonous ones, is to use a telephoto lens (the bigger the better). However, on this occasion I used my wide angle to show the snake's habitat. I had to get very close to the subject, but I managed not to get bitten. These snakes are not aggressive, so that helped with my decision.
Hope you like the post and again thanks for all your comments.

Amazing shot. The snake is beautiful and including a lot of his environment really enhances the shot. Well done.

This is tremendous and so glad you made the wide angle decision and also that you came out of it unscathed. I also love the yellow ones.

really great composition and the circumstances allow that it seems that the front part of the snake is out of focus. If you took the shot in RAW (what you always should do ;-) then there is maybe still some detail in the overexposed part of the beautiful snake which can be brought back in the conversation.
