Description

Khand entered the observation room of the Steel Tower, the oldest part of the palace. The Orc froze in shock when he saw the scars that criss crossed Markus' back. The Human, glancing over his shoulder, saw the direction of Khand's gaze. "That is Victor's reply to my refusal to lead the assault on the Kingdom of Edding." "Victor is an inhuman beast!" Khand spat. "The world will be well rid of him." "Mother says it'll be over within the week." Markus turned about. "And I will be glad when it's over." "Yes. Your sister told me of the separation from your wife." The Orc gave a half smile. "She also told me that she's learned that the fortress city of Monnor has been taken by Alathar and his Elves. They are now waiting at the portal at the old Temple of the Seas. They've also liberated your brother, marius." "What?" Markus exclaimed loudly. "Is he well?" "Vass said he is now in Dragon's Reach being healed. And that he'll be at the Moss Plains with the Lady Dass when we arrive." "When you arrive." Markus stated simply. "I leave for the Temple of the Seas in the morning. There I will meet Alathar. The next day I return to Dragon's Reach for a day. Then I will join you." "And what of the Dwarves?" "Their forces are in place as we speak. All that's left for them to do is fly their airship fleet in." "They're bringing in all eleven ships?" "No." Markus said with a shake of his head. "Their heavy cruiser was stolen by the damned Lioness of Commarre." "I thought you killed that pirate last year?" Khand grumbled. "I thought I did. But it seems that I was wrong. She's not only stolen the ship, but has kidnapped King Born's heir, Khordu. The entire fleet has given chase. Taketo, the man who made the taking of Aggadria possible, is there to render them aid." Vass opened the door behind the two. "The King has called for the two of you. It is time to begin." "Very well, Lady Vass." Khand replird with a small bow. "You bow to me now." Vass whispered seductively in his ear. "But tonight you shall worship me." She then left, Khand watching her receding form with great interest. "She is very sure of herself, O Brother Prince. Very sure." "Don't forget." Markus said with a grin as he slapped Khand on the shoulder. "She is over five hundred years old. That's a long time to learn the arts of love. And she's also half dragon, so her endurance will outstrip your's." "I have a feeling she's going to put me down." The Orc said. He then laughed. "I am looking forward to tonight."
