Description

Sometimes you get funny results with IR. The bowler hat was definately black to the naked eye. The shirt was a dark blue print. But I still like the image. Thanks for looking and your comments : )

I have so much catching up to do...but that's the fun bit. I see a perfect example of what you were talking about when you were telling us--me and Bill, I think--about the way different things react, depending on thickness, material, and all of that good stuff, and this is such a perfect example. I love the way I can't exactly remember the range of IR this is--near IR?--but I love the way it's slightly unpredictable. Now, as for the photo itself. Brilliant! I rather like the surprise of the IR-whitened hat and the impish expression rendered even more impish. IR photography is such a difficult thing to get "right" in that it sometimes looks a bit too otherworldly; this just looks like the world next door...there's a way into it and the overall effect is subtle; I love the way this single photograph makes me actually feel as if I'm looking at a drawing.
