Description

The Chronicles of Inthandonia: The Wizard Wars Arsenal From my hiding place in a darkened service duct I sent forth streams of tiny molecular nanobots. Like an army of marauding ants these tiny machines gathered gram by gram the raw materials to construct a powered exoskeleton that was as much within my body as around it. As the nanobots returned to my body a gleaming membrane was built over most of my skin. Bands of superconducting flexible metallic lattices formed around my arms and legs, cradled my skull and torso. Small tingles and odd flashes of light indicated that something extraordinary was occurring in the shattered ruin of my blinded eye socket. I felt as strong as ten men, as powerful as a storm. Once again calling on my meditation skills I maintained a razor sharp focus on the ship around me. Scanning the internal data spread throughout my personal nano-net I quickly determined the most direct route out of the Skrell ship. A series of fantastically sensitive sensor arrays formed in a metallic patch over my traumatised eye. These sensors poured their output directly into the stump of my optic nerve. Molecular resonances were mapped by my nanonet brain and converted to direct images allowing me to see through the walls and determine the positions of the increasing numbers of insect-like macrobots that were searching for me. When the coast was clear I made a dash for it. Despite my stealthy precautions I was cornered by a pair of engineering bots the size of small horses. With a flick of my mind my nano-net augmentation scanned the quantum matrices underlying the material structure of the robots. In a moment of discovery I found I could directly affect the levels of entropy occurring within the robot systems. With the computing power of my nano-net I effortlessly calculated the quantum entropic variables and introduced a cascading torrent of chaos into the two machines. The result was that multiple systems, programs and peripheral hardware and software aboard the robots suffered cataclysmic malfunctions – one bot simply froze rigid and shut down but the other burst into flames. This was somewhat alarming as the bots were following me down a lengthy arcade between what appeared to be rows of cruise missiles tipped with nuclear warheads. I thought it judicious to beat a hasty retreat as a column of smoke arose over the gleaming arsenal. Had that fire expanded to ignite the ready-fuelled missile propellant the resulting explosion would have been truly enormous, easily enough to blast a crater 50 leagues wide in the mountains of Inha Sosul. Whilst this would have been undoubtedly very messy it would have at least prevented the Wizard War from ever getting started. It would also have vaporised me instantly! Fortune (good or bad, who can tell?) and the effectiveness of the Skrell repair bots prevented the fire from spreading and so, in this Universe anyway, the giga-ton explosion was averted.

Lucky you didn't vapourize - otherwise, how would the story have been told. Another excellent addition to the chronicles.
