Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update Ă‚Â January 2012:Ă‚Â After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with itsĂ‚Â advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems.Ă‚Â I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books. Ă‚Â Life marches on!Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â
Dana

Great capture for some reason, your commentary made me think of the movie, 'American Werewolf in London' and the scene on the moors

Magik made me chuckle. Sounds like a very remote holiday :o) I know 2 brother, they live in Scotland, actually next door to each other. I can understand what one says but the other, no way. I just not & say yes :o)

As Andrea says a classic building, not the best thatching and it needs some urgent repair most of the thatching in the southern part of the UK is done with corn stalks or if you want the best reeds, as for fires all the roofs I have seen inside were boarded and are probably no more likely to catch fire than an ordinary roofs. This building is likely only used by shepherds when on hills or as a store.

It is a wonderful old building and capture, Dana. I am glad you enjoyed your time in Scotland. I have visited Scotland once and it was wonderful. Hugs. Di. xx

This is so appealing and romantic looking, wouldn't you just like to spend some time there - in a very basic way, no doubt - maybe a bit like in the movie: 'LOTR' ? absolutely stunning vision - thanks for sharing such a beauty ... BB

Great capture and great story Dana. I remember crossing the Minch from Ullapool to Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, and while on the ferry I looked the the chart posted. As I was looking at the chart, I realized that this is Russian? or maybe Greek? There Russian factory ships anchored in Loch Broom, but Russian on this fery. I fanally realized it was Gaelic. I can image your challenge talking with these Gaellic speaking people. Didn't see any straw covered buildings or huts in Scotland, but saw some in Ireland.

I love these old stone cottages. I've never been to Culloden, but I know the very sad story too well... Beautiful capture!

Terrific detail and color in this old pic, Dana, and thank you for the interesting narrative on your trip. And,you get such better clarity, color and overall resolution with your scans than I do with mine.

Nice place to live in there, with the mice, ha ha! Why do you say the moors are no place to sleep on the ground?
