Description


Marmoset are very small New World monkeys. They originally lived in Northeastern Brazil but through intentional and unintentional release of captive animals they have expanded their range since the 1920s to Southeast Brazil and can now be found as far south as Buenos Aires. Marmoset were first sighted in Rio de Janeiro in 1929 and have become an invasive species. Common Marmoset are very small, they range in weight from 236 grams to 256 grams and in length from 185 mm to 188 mm, males being the slightly larger of the two.
