My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Such rich colors--all the years I lived in Phoenix, I didn't care about seeing the desert in bloom. Course I was a kid, guess I had more important things to do.

Interesting perspective, love the colours and long crop for this beautiful summer shot- thanks for sharing! :-)

When you said Cave Creek, I knew Cave Creek, AZ. Ocotillo is my favorite desert plant. I'm not out in the hot summer to see it when it dries out, or in the chill of winter when it turns black, but spring and fall I thrill to the sway of those long flexible branches loaded with buds and berries and the hummingbirds that can't stay away. I have an ocotillo growing in my front flowerbed. It is only knee high and slow to grow in our different soil and sun, but I love seeing it sprout leaves each year. Someday I hope it will be tall enough to produce sweet little flowers for me. This is a magical shot, BTW. Excellent work.

Up close for a detailed survey...like it. I didn't look at the details of the bark when we were there. Light is fabulous:*

A very interesting choice of subject. This is your 'Goldilocks' image; not too little, not too much but just right. I like the focus on the leaves and bark patterns with the bright flowers in the background. Excellent work and a wonderful lesson.

Looks like you could just reach out and touch it. Lovely capture, Tara! Bright and cheerful colors. That plant would look rather drab and dead without the leaves and flowers.

Love this; all the color & textures. Nice shot! :)

Yes we have to look carfully before we see its a link. I guess the orange flowers are related to this dry plant. They are most interesting and beautiful.
