Description

Angle Tarn Actually there are a number of tarns in the lake district named Angle Tarn, this one is loated on a very nice walk above the village of Hartsop. Yes the sheep was there and for once an animal waited until I got the camera out and took a shot. This is one of several places in the Lake District calle Angle Tarn and this one is in the fells above the village of Hartsop. Taken a few days back on a seven mile walk.

Angle Tarn sounds the equivalent of our Fish Lake. There must be 10 Fish Lakes in this state. I googled Hartsop and wandered about the area. It's fascinating. I wonder why so few patches of trees? It looks like big areas of stoney ground, is there just no soil for them? Or have they all been thoroughly logged out? Certainly looks fit only for sheep to graze.

Hi neoexcello, Logged out years ago. Some of the soil is so rich and dark but maybe they like the way it is, no money in planting trees...saves the planet but man has long ago lost interest in anything that doesnt earn money.
