I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Perfectly simple composition...is that a river or part of the lake? No answer needed...I've never been to Detroit and will do some homework of the surroundings:) Very nicely done Carin!

You did this very well Carin, it wouldn't have been much of a shot without the wonderfully balanced foreground but with it this is wonderful

Detroit has a reputation in the States for being a run-down city. But Detroit, like many cities, has many sides to it, many personalities. The stereotype would never grant that this was in Detroit, but a fine photographic eye will always find beauty wherever it goes. Again your black framing is perfect for the image, as the image seems to evolve out of darkness. And I already know that you have a way with streaming light, as you see & capture it as a velvet veil coming down into your images. And the gentle silhouettes of the furniture speak of a whole world inside, of which we only see a little but feel nevertheless. I assume this is the Detroit River (named for the French word for "strait," because the water connects the Great Lakes). Beautiful inward shot, with a mystical 'carin' light.
