Description
This is a model created by the great sculptor Batsheba Grossman. It's a cube divided in 2 complementary fractals, if you could put the 2 fractal cubes at the same place ( Easy with 3D software ) they'll lock together in a solid cube. On the left part of the image, one of the fractal cube rendered in gold, on the right, the complementary fractal cube rendered in glass and in the middle the 2 complementary cubes, with the texture inverted, and superposed. This image was render at this resolution (Clic to see full size) took 10 hours to render, tomorrow I'll upload a similar image render in Carrara, around 1 minute of render at the same resolution.
Please check the full resolution image please...

I appreciate you posting the two comparative images (Bryce vs Carrara). I always like to see how various 3D apps compare in performance and results. That is an amazing difference in render times! Observations: the Bryce image looks 'finer' with the jaggies being less noticeable. I think maybe I like the look of the glass in the Carrara version better but that could be due to the different angle of viewing. Suggestion: How about doing a render in each app with a plain sky and plain ground surface from the same viewpoint, resolution, etc. Thanx for the interesting info on 'complementary fractals' and your illustrative rendering of it. I had not heard of such a thing before; it is cool! (p.s. You should edit the text in your Carrara render. It is identical to here looks like you are saying that it also took 10-hours to render.)
